Thank you for booking a stay at Cheval Abbey Strand Apartments at Holyrood. We are delighted you have chosen to stay with us, and if it’s not your first time, welcome back. Located at the foot of Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile and just steps from the gates of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the nine prestigious apartments at Cheval Abbey Strand offer a boutique living experience, for any length of stay.
It is important to know that Cheval Abbey Strand does not have a member of staff permanently located on the premises. Access to the building and to your apartment is via a four-digit access code you will be issued prior to your arrival.
This gives you complete freedom during your stay, but if you do need to speak to a member of the team, you can call them using the phone in your apartment or from your own device on +44 (0)131 510 5499. This number connects you to the team at our sister property Cheval Old Town Chambers, available 24 hours a day.
Before you arrive, please ensure you have completed our pre-check-in procedure, including filling out the digital registration card. You will receive an email detailing these steps seven days prior to your stay.
Once we have your details, we can issue you a secure payment link which you can use to make payment for your stay. Full payment is required at least five days prior to your arrival, and our team will contact you earlier than this if we already hold your contact information in our system.
Approximately seven days prior to your arrival, you will receive an email inviting you to pre-check-in for your stay. It is essential you follow the steps explained in this email and complete the digital registration card.
It is also essential that we have received full payment for your stay prior to your arrival. If this has not already been received, we will be unable to issue your access code. Once the pre-check-in procedure is completed, you will then receive an email with a secure payment link to settle the outstanding balance. If you do not receive this, please contact our central reservations team on +44 (0)20 7341 7052, via WhatsApp on +44 (0)7702 551 923 or by email reservations@chevalcollection.com as soon as possible.
Once this is done, we will be able to issue you a four-digit passcode which you can use to access your apartment. The code will be sent to your email within 24 hours of your arrival. Next to every door at the property is a digital access panel. Simply enter the valid four-digit code and the door will open.
Our policy is that payment in full must be received for the entirety of your stay at least five days prior to your arrival. This is to ensure we can issue a unique four-digit access passcode that will enable you to open the door to the building and to your apartment. If you book to arrive within that five day window, full payment will be taken when you make your reservation.
The access code is active from 15h on the day of your arrival until 11am on the day of your departure. As the building is not continuously staffed, the passcode is the only way you will be able to access your apartment.

We are located at the foot of the Royal Mile opposite the Scottish Parliament Building. The building sits at the top of the short entrance road to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the British monarch’s official residence in Edinburgh.
By public transport: The nearest mainline railway station is Edinburgh Waverley, approximately a 15-minute walk or a very short taxi journey. There are usually black taxis available at the station and these do not need to be pre-booked.
There is no parking available on site. The nearest paid car park to Cheval Abbey Strand Apartments at Holyrood is the 24h Dynamic Earth Car Park, located at Dynamic Earth, Holyrood Road, Edinburgh EH8 8AS. The parking facility is a 3-minute drive or a 5-minute walk from our residence.
Guests staying at Cheval Abbey Strand Apartments at Holyrood benefit from a 20% discount on the parking rates. The discount needs to be applied before you collect your car by showing the Abbey Strand booking confirmation email at the car park office located on Holyrood Gait, next to the stairway access. This is the only place the discount can be applied. This is available to our guests anytime between their check-in and check-out date.

The access passcode you will be issued within 24 hours of your arrival will function only between these times. Please see below for full details.
Check-in is from 15h on the day of your arrival. The digital registration card you completed prior to arrival means there are no additional procedures to worry about on the day. Simply use the four-digit passcode sent to your email address to access the building, using the panel adjacent to the door. This will arrive approximately 24 hours ahead of your arrival.
Please be aware that the passcode will not work prior to 15h on the day you are scheduled to check-in, unless you have arranged earlier access with a member of our reservations team. If you would like to leave luggage in the communal lounge before 15h, please let us know beforehand and we can arrange this. Note the lounge is not a secure area and is accessible by other building residents. As such, we cannot accept liability for any items left in this space.
The passcode will automatically deactivate at 11h on the day you are scheduled to check-out.
If for any reason you have not received your passcode, you can use the messaging function on the Cheval App to contact our team and request this. You can also phone the team at our sister property Cheval Old Town Chambers on +44 (0)131 510 5499. This property is located a 17-minute walk away.

Each of the nine apartments can be accessed with a unique, four-digit passcode which will be issued to you by email within 24 hours of your arrival. The same passcode will also open the door to the building and to the ground floor lounge. Just off the lounge is a small room containing washing machines available for guest use.
The property is not staffed on a full-time basis, so you will need to use your four-digit passcode to enter. As you face the building, there is a green door beneath the sign ‘Abbey Strand Apartments’ which is the door to the shared lounge. There is no inside access to the apartments from this lounge.
To reach your apartment, go through the passageway to the right of the main door (again as you face the building). If the door to the passageway is closed, your passcode will open this. The door to the apartment block is on the left at the end of the passageway (see image above). Use your passcode again to open this door, and then proceed inside up the spiral staircase to your apartment. You will need to use the passcode one final time to open the door to your apartment.
If on arrival or at any point during your stay you would like to speak to a member of our team, you can use the phone in your apartment to dial the front office at Cheval Old Town Chambers, following the instructions on the device. The front office is staffed 24 hours a day. Alternatively please call us from your own device on +44 (0)131 510 5499.
Housekeeping will visit your apartment daily to remove any rubbish and to refresh the bathroom(s) and bedroom(s). This usually happens between the hours of 10am and 2pm. Linens are fully changed after the third day if you are staying with us for longer.
If you are staying for more than one night, you will receive an automated survey email after 24 hours enquiring about your stay so far. You are welcome to share any feedback or requests at this time and the team will follow up as soon as possible. There is no need to wait, however, so please do not hesitate to contact us earlier if you have an urgent request.
The WiFi on the property is complimentary. Simply connect to the Cheval Residences network on your mobile device and use the password RESIDENCES. Note the password is case sensitive.
Your apartment includes a fully equipped kitchen, a Nespresso coffee machine with complimentary pods and a milk and water in your fridge on arrival. In the bathrooms you will find complimentary toiletries to last you throughout your stay.
If you would like to do some laundry during your stay, there are washer/dryers located off the lounge on the ground floor of the building. You will need to exit your apartment and access the lounge using the main front door (your apartment passcode will also work for this door).
On the day of your departure, we ask only that you ensure you have all your personal belongings with you and that you depart by 11am. After this time, your passcode will no longer work to grant access to the building or to your apartment.
If you would like to leave luggage in the lounge on the ground floor of the building, you are welcome to do so, however please be aware this space is not secure from other residents. As a consequence, we cannot accept any liability for items left in this area. To ensure you can access the lounge after your apartment access code is due to expire, please message our team or phone them in advance to request an extension. The code, once extended, will permit access to the communal lounge only.
