I have been working in hospitality over 20 years now and with Cheval for 5 years.  Cheval brings out the best in yourself, we have fun at work.  Cheval goes above and beyond to look after the guests and colleagues.

What do you like most about your job?

I have always worked in in Front of House. I enjoy building great teams and help them to deliver the service we aim for and ensuring the morale is always high. We create magical moments for our guests with my team. I also enjoy helping out colleagues in other departments to drive a common goal in the Residence.

How would you describe the culture here?

Cheval is one Big Happy Family. We have our low moments but we learn and convert them in to high moments. Few words to describe the culture here would be caring, helpful, understanding, motivating the list goes on. I have worked in big chains in hospitality where the culture is not always what is promised but at Cheval a positive work culture is one of its foundation stones.

Cheval highlight ( Your most memorable moment so far)

There have been so many memorable moments. One was from a company that sent a letter from Australia to me thanking me for helping out their colleagues who were staying with us, its always nice to be recognised. I am also very proud of the colleagues from my team who have I have developed and who have moved up in the company.

I joined in 2015 as a reservations customer relations expert, providing the highest level of client contact to our guests, then moved to the Sales Department where I immersed myself in relationship building and analysing sales figures. This led to my current role in Development and Acquisitions where I am enjoying learning more about the business and expanding our company.

What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy the variety my job gives me, from analyzing data and producing financial projections to liaising with stakeholders to validate my findings. Being able to do this work across our brands, Cheval Residences, Cheval Maison and MY Locanda has given me a new perspective and allowed me to develop my skills.

How would you describe the culture here?

We have a diverse community of hard-working professionals that come together as a family, and give each other support, as well as look after the needs of our guests. We obsess over our guests and we’re determined to give them the greatest customer experience, so that they return again and again.

I am proud to be a part of a fantastic team that has worked together to expand our portfolio to Edinburgh. We have worked on this project for over a year and despite the current climate, we have succeeded and welcomed the team from Edinburgh to our Cheval family. I was really excited when the management agreements were signed and I very much hope to be able to visit the new sites one day.

I will be celebrating 5 years working with Cheval this year which was not what I had expected having started the company on a 7 month fixed term contract where I was covering maternity leave for the Office Administrator at one of our residences. It was here where I saw the passion and dedication that went into looking after our guests. Having always enjoyed working with people I applied for the vacant position as a HR Co-ordinator. I worked in this role for 2 and half years, learning so much about the HR function in the business.  I was then promoted to HR Officer which is the role I am currently in and alongside this I am studying through the apprenticeship programme working towards achieving a CIPD qualification.

What do you like most about your job?

Within my day to day role, no day is the same which is exciting and challenging, a large part of my role is supporting colleaguesand assisting with enquiries. Interacting with colleaguesinternally and externally is one of the things I enjoy most.

How would you describe the culture here?

The first thing that springs to mind when I think of Cheval is a family-like culture, which is reflected in the relationship we have with our guests where we offer a ‘Home away from home’.  I work with great colleagues that are open, supportive and listen to each other’s ideas, whilst also having a lot of fun. The colleagues at Cheval really do live by our values, excellence, positivity, balance and respect, which are qualities we look for when recruiting new talent to join the team.

Cheval highlight ( Your most memorable moment so far)

My Cheval highlight would be when I attended last year’s annual event for The Caterer’s 30 Best Places to Work in Hospitality and it was announced that Cheval was the 13th best place to work in hospitality. As a company this is a fantastic achievement and it is truly great for us to be recognised for all the investment that the company puts into our colleagues.

My journey with Cheval started 5 years ago, not long after I moved to the UK. My first workplace was the iconic Cheval Three Quays where I worked within the Housekeeping department as a Porter, and gradually gravitated towards the Concierge team where I started as a Concierge Porter and then finally moved into the Front Office team. I would describe my time working at Cheval Three Quays as some of the best years of my life, where I had the pleasure of meeting a wide variety of wonderful people from all sorts of backgrounds, and most importantly some long-lasting friendships. In a way, I would say that the time spent at Cheval Three Quays shaped me as a person and helped me become who I am today. My career as a Chevalier continued in 2018 with what I still call to this day “a dream come true” when I joined the Marketing team as a Marketing Assistant followed by a promotion to Digital Marketing Executive in 2019.

What do you like most about your job?

One of the things that I enjoy the most at my current role is the fact that first and foremost, I do what I love and no two days are the same. I work with some of the most talented and experienced people I’ve ever met and our projects differ from week to week, from making simple changes to our websites to full-scale branding projects for new Residences.

How would you describe the culture here?

To reiterate Mohit, “Cheval is one big happy family”. Family is how I would probably describe the Cheval culture: happy, caring, and together as a unit.

Cheval highlight ( Your most memorable moment so far)

I could write an entire essay about all of the wonderful moments experienced at Cheval, but the one that stands out for me was receiving the Cheval Support Colleague of the Year Award in 2019. It was a very humbling moment for me and at the same time the ultimate proof that my contribution is appreciated throughout the company.
