COVID-19 Statement

We are pleased to advise our guests and partners that we are open and are continuing operations at our Residences in London and in Edinburgh. All domestic legal restrictions in England related to the covid-19 pandemic have been lifted. This means there are no limits on gatherings and those remaining establishments and businesses that have remained closed since early 2020, such as nightclubs, can now reopen. Although the legal requirements no longer apply, the covid safety measures in place at all our residences will remain for the time being, in recognition that the virus continues to circulate in the wider community.

In practical terms this means we will still encourage all our guests to wear face coverings in public areas, and you can expect our staff to wear one when they interact with you in close proximity. We also recommend that all our guests continue to respect social distancing in lifts and in any common areas where possible. The enhanced cleaning regimes put in place will continue, and we remain vigilant with respect to our back-of-house operations. International travel to the United Kingdom

A ‘traffic light’ system will be in effect for international arrivals into England and Scotland until the 4th October, 2021. From 4am on this date, the rules will be simplified to permit arrivals for anyone who has been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days under an approved vaccination programme. A covid-19 test will not be required at your point of origin, but you will still have to complete a passenger locater form and take a covid-19 antigen (lateral flow) test within two days of your arrival into the UK. Note that some countries remain on the red list, which means any individual regardless of vaccination status will still have to quarantine for 10 days in a government hotel on arrival.

Rules applying until the 3rd October, 2021 for arrivals, and from the 4th October, 2021 for individuals who are not vaccinated

Visitors from ‘green‘ countries will not have to quarantine on arrival, but will still be expected to present a negative covid-19 test result before departure, and take a private PCR covid-19 test following their arrival.

All passengers arriving from a country on the ‘amber‘ list must self isolate for 10 days and take two covid-19 tests on days 2 and 8. This can be done in a Cheval apartment and we can assist with any requirements you may need with respect to grocery deliveries and supplies. Full details are available here. It is possible to reduce the isolation period if you are isolating in England by taking a test five days after your arrival. This must be done using a private test provider and entirely at your own cost. Full details on the ‘test to release’ regime are available here. This scheme is not available for those in mandatory quarantine at any of the government-designated hotels.

As of the 19th July, 2021, arrivals from countries on the amber list who have been fully vaccinated in the UK by the National Health Service (NHS) will not be required to quarantine, however they will still need to pay for a PCR test within two days of arrival.

Arrivals from the United States, Canada and the European Union who can show proof of full vaccination for covid-19 will no longer have to quarantine on arrival. They will need to arrange to take a PCR covid-19 test within two days of arrival, similar to arrivals from green countries. For more information please see our FAQ page.

Residents arriving from a red list country will be required to purchase a quarantine package covering a hotel stay and two covid-19 tests. Non-residents arriving from or having transited through a red list country will not be permitted entry.

Edinburgh Residences

Cheval Residences in Edinburgh remain open for any length or type of stay, closely following government guidelines and implementing all precautionary measures necessary. Some covid-19 restrictions in Scotland are still in force, however shops, hairdressers, gyms, museums, tourist attractions and hospitality (restaurants and pubs) are open. You are also more than welcome to organise deliveries directly to your apartment and our App has a list of services and restaurants in the vicinity of your Residence.

London Residences and Maisons

Cheval Residences and Cheval Maisons in London remain open for any length or type of stay, closely following government guidelines and implementing all precautionary measures necessary. As of the 19th July, all legal covid-19 restrictions in England have been lifted, however guidance around mask-wearing and social distancing remains in place. In some scenarios, such as travelling on public transport in London, a face covering is still a requirement as a condition of carriage. You should also be prepared to wear a face covering in some scenarios, such as shops, shopping centres, theatres, galleries and crowded indoor places. You are also more than welcome to organise deliveries directly to your apartment and our App has a list of services and restaurants in the vicinity of your Residence.


Cheval Collection has increased precautionary measures to protect guests and staff during the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. We advise guests and staff to be stay abreast of all current health and government advice, specifically NHS advice and UK government advice. Please note the advice for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland can differ from that issued in England.

Anyone who chooses to book one of our apartments can expect the full support of our colleagues and will be able to take advantage of the following:

  • Regular housekeeping service dependent on length of stay
  • Coordination of any deliveries you choose to receive, whether that be grocery, restaurant deliveries or parcels
  • Virtual direct contact with our teams using Cheval’s App (available for both Apple and Android devices)

We continue to be vigilant with respect to guests staying with us and have procedures in place to identify and respond to anyone who reports symptoms commonly identified with COVID-19. Cheval has increased health and safety precautionary measures in its properties and offices including increasing the frequency of cleaning so that public fixtures like door handles and lift switches are regularly sanitised. Apartments will be appropriately sealed to signify the rigorous apartment sanitisation process is complete.

Cheval Collection has also introduced hand sanitisers throughout its properties including on reception for guests, in apartment welcome packs, in bathrooms and in offices. Hand sanitisers are now also available by keypad entry systems for staff.
