Statement last reviewed 19th January, 2021
International travel to the United Kingdom
New travel rules are now in effect for arrivals from outside the United Kingdom. All passengers are now required to present proof of a negative test result for the covid-19 virus in the three days before you start your their trip to the UK. You may also be required to show this proof on arrival at the UK border. On arrival you will need to quarantine for 10 days, regardless of your test result. This can be done in a Cheval apartment and we can assist with any requirements you may need with respect to grocery deliveries and supplies. Full details are available here. Note that there are a number of countries from which travel to the UK is banned entirely, unless you are a UK or Irish citizen, or a permanent resident.
If you arrive directly into Scotland, all the above also applies.
It is possible to reduce the isolation period if you are isolating in England by taking a test five days after your arrival. This must be done using a private test provider and entirely at your own cost. Full details on the ‘test to release’ regime are available here.
Cheval Residences in Edinburgh remain open, closely following government guidelines and implementing all precautionary measures necessary. From the 5th January Edinburgh moved into the highest tier of Scotland’s covid-19 restrictions, with guidance and more information available here. In practice this means shops, gyms and personal care premises must close, however restaurants remain open for takeaways and deliveries. You are more than welcome to organise deliveries directly to your apartment and our App has a list of services and restaurants in the vicinity of your Residence.
