Cheval Collection opens Cheval Old Town Chambers extension
From August 2021, the doors will open on a stylish extension to Cheval Old Town Chambers (sister property to Cheval The Edinburgh Grand) situated directly on the Royal Mile and featuring 25 brand new apartments, a welcoming reception area and a lounge available for guest use. The extension will also include a 140-seat ground floor bar and restaurant called Luckenbooths.
The historic building dates from the 18th century and has been carefully restored over the past two years. The apartments, which consist of luxury, deluxe and loft one bedroom and open plan studio apartments, offer unique views onto the Royal Mile and the cathedral or northwards towards Princes Street Gardens. Each apartment’s interior has a distinctive character, however all marry original features with sleek, contemporary designs. All apartments have fully equipped kitchens and provide all the luxury extras to enhance your stay. The apartments come in a truly versatile range of shapes and sizes, sleeping from one to six guests available for any length of stay.
Cheval Old Town Chambers is located in Edinburgh’s Old Town just off the Royal Mile at 329 High Street. Opposite St Giles’ Cathedral and only a five-minute walk from Edinburgh Castle, this converted A-listed residence boasts one of the best locations in the heart of the city, sited within a UNESCO accredited World Heritage Site. Wandering around the historic surroundings of the property, it is easy to feel as if you have stepped back in time. Roam the stony steps of Edinburgh castle, embark on an Old Town pub crawl or stroll the steep curve of pastel fronted buildings on Victoria Street. All on your doorstep when you stay at Cheval Old Town Chambers.
Contained within the Cheval Old Town Chambers extension will be a ground floor bar and restaurant also developed by Chris Stewart Group and managed by Edinburgh-based restaurant group Bon Vivant called Luckenbooths. The name is based on a row of commercial buildings that used to sit on the Royal Mile between the building and the cathedral but which were demolished in the early 19th century. Luckenbooths offers a family friendly destination for all day dining in stylish surroundings with a 140-seat restaurant and lounge as well as a sun trap terrace overlooking the most famous landmarks in the city. The relaxed interior combines a unique blend of traditional and contemporary design, with a nod to the history of the surrounding Old Town area.
